Centre of Social and Educational Research (CREA) The Centre of Social and Educational Research (CREA) undertakes research projects that contribute to theoretical and practical developments in the social sciences. It is chiefly concerned with the analysis of present-day society and with the development of measures to solve the problems that it faces, particularly in the fields of education and training.

More than 15 research projects are currently being undertaken with the common aim of analysing social inequalities and the type of training needed to overcome such imbalances. This research is eminently practical, aimed at applying measures that will ensure certain social groups are not excluded from a society undergoing the information revolution.

CREA, the direct result of extensive collaboration with research groups in other countries, studies a wide range of situations and educational groups working in society-at-large and in the political arena, and is concerned with both the provision and quality of education and the creation of employment.

CREA offers the following services based on its research
  • Measures to increase the participation of those sectors which traditionally do not participate in various areas of society and politics.

  • New understanding of skills and aptitudes for the design of educational programmes.

  • Project to turn schools into Learning Communities as an innovative strategy for overcoming academic failure and absenteeism. Consultancy service provided at each step in the process.

  • Consultancy service provided in the introduction of the learning dialogue.

  • Directives for designing accreditation policies for previous experience acquired through practice in the various spheres of everyday life.

  • Research techniques employing a communicative approach: informal talks, life histories, interviews and communicative case studies.

  • New methods for facilitating the insertion of ethnic minorities into society and work.

  • Possibilities offered by new technologies in education as a way of bringing the training processes to a wider audience.

  • Project evaluations and needs analyses.

  • Study of training aptitudes and needs: using analytical instruments created by CREA: ANAT and ACOT.

  • Promoting the development of the critical theory of the international scientific community, making contributions that enrich its activities, organising seminars or other ways of fostering the scientific exchange of ideas.
