Our group is using the tools of genomics and proteomics to study molecular mechanisms involved in macrophage proliferation, activation, differentiation and entry in apoptosis following stimulation with cytokine or growth factors. Our goal is to determine the signal transduction pathways for these immune system cells and to establish how the various genes involved in the functional activity of the cells are regulated. We are interested in the regulation of gene expression in the major histocompatibility complex class II, given that these genes are critical for antigen presentation to T lymphocytes.
