A study reveals how respiratory tubes and capillaries form
Scientists at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) and CSIC report on the formation of the small-diameter respiratory tubes of the fly Drosophila, a process that resembles the development of the finest blood vessels, the capillaries, in mamma. The study has been published in the journal Current Biology<7i>, part of the Cell group.
El PCB will take part in the Annual Conference Technological Platforms of Biomedical Research
Barcelona will host the III Annual Conference Technological Platforms of Biomedical Research next 23rd and 24th of February, organized by the Spanish Technological Platform of Innovative Medicines, Spanish NanoMedicine Platform, the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies and the collaboration of Biocat. Presentations include Cenit projects, highlighting Cenit-Neogenius linked to Catalan pharmaceutical companies Admiral and Esteve located at PCB.
The PCB offers a new experiments workshop that researches drugs used to treat diabetes
Early this year a new scientific experiments workshop titled “Research small cells and genes!” has been set in motion in the OpenLab of the Barcelona Science Park, with the aim of showing 3rd and 4th grade junior high students and high school students one of the research lines that is currently underway at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), located at the PCB, that researches possible drugs for type 2 diabetes and obesity.
